I was always a heavy drinker, so i can’t blame everything on the pandemic. But since March I’ve been drinking at an unsustainable rate. It became a thing to do to pass the time. Now it’s a thing I do to feel normal.
I need help. This is the first time I’ve reached out for help. I don’t know where to begin and feel scared. It feels so insurmountable.
Hey @sam_112949 ! Thank you for checking in -- welcome to the Community. I'm really, really glad you're here. I know so many can relate to what you're expressing. Regardless if drinking habits have worsened during the pandemic, it has absolutely shined a light on pre-existing behavior that we may not otherwise have been able to take such an intimate look at. I'd also like to validate that drinking rates have gone up exponentially this past year. You are not alone in that, and I think it's incredibly admirable that you're taking action. It's not easy, and I commend you for your willingness to try this out (whatever it looks like for you!). As a first step, I encourage you to take a browse around our site. Take a look at our therapist-moderated support groups, our thoughts on therapy and medication, and our reading and resources page. See if anything resonates.
Let me know if you need help navigating. I'll be here every step of the way. You got this.
Thank you. I will do that. I appreciate the kind words.
